Auditions are open to student dancers ages 6–17, regardless of technical level. There is a role suited for everyone, with opportunities including Little Snow, Mice, Party Children, Maidens/Sprites, Variations, and more!

Dancers will participate in a mandatory rehearsal immediately following auditions to learn choreography with The Nutcracker Audition Director.

Audition Attire

Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, and hair in a ballet bun.

Rehearsal Commitment

Please review all rehearsal dates before auditioning. Dancers participating in The Nutcracker may miss no more than ONE scheduled rehearsal.

By accepting a role, dancers are committing to their assigned Saturday rehearsals and the performance.

Rehearsal Times by Role

9:00–9:45 AM – Snowflakes
9:45–10:30 AM – Mice
10:30–11:15 AM – Party Children
11:15–11:45 AM – Maidens/Sprites
11:45 AM–12:45 PM – All Variations Together

Dancers should attend the rehearsal time assigned to their role. December 5 is an ALL CAST rehearsal from 9:00–11:00 AM.

Performance DAY INFORMATION

December 7 | 7:00 PM

Dancers should plan to arrive at the venue approximately 6 hours before the 7:00 PM performance for costume fittings, photos and rehearsal with the professional Nutcracker cast. This is an approximate arrival time only. The final performance-day schedule will be provided approximately 1–2 weeks before the performance.

Dancers will remain at the venue through the performance and should arrive with their hair and makeup performance-ready. Parents are not permitted backstage unless they are designated volunteers.

Costume, hair, makeup, tights and shoe requirements vary by role. Once casting has been announced, families should review the official Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet Student FAQ for their dancer’s specific requirements, including any items that must be provided from home.
